`GODOLPHIN FRANCE` HOPING TO SIGN OFF WITH SUCCESS

Noverre was today given the thumbs up to try to secure a Group One prize for Godolphin`s soon-to-be dismantled French operation.

The colt has Saturday`s Darley Dewhurst Stakes in his sights as the Evry training establishment run by David Loder sends out its final runners this weekend.

Noverre, the winner of the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster last month, will be accompanied to Newmarket by Small Change who is earmarked for the Owen Brown Rockfel Stakes.

Godolphin France will then conclude its operations with two runners at Longchamp on Sunday.

'The ground is going to be soft and the Dewhurst is a tough race as usual but at the moment the plan is to run Noverre,' said Godolphin France racing manager Diana Cooper.

'He and Small Change will be our final runners in England and then after we run two in France the following day we will be finished.

'The moving process will begin now and continue until the end of the year.'

Sheikh Mohammed is scrapping the French branch of his Godolphin enterprise after just two seasons.

He installed Loder in a base at Evry racecourse to train two-year-olds but winners have been scarce.

Instead Loder will move back to Newmarket to train Godolphin two-year-olds at the Sheikh`s Stanley House Stables which were once the base of John Gosden.

Opposition to Noverre, the mount of Frankie Dettori, who was supplemented into the race for #15,000 on Saturday, is unclear with the likelihood of soft ground threatening the participation of the Khaled Abdullah-owned pair Vacamonte and Endless Summer.

There is a further complication with Aidan O`Brien holding 10 of the 20 entries, including Minardi, Hemingway and Beckett.

Vacamonte, trained by Henry Cecil, is seeking to restore his reputation after a baffling flop when long odds-on for Sandown`s Solario Stakes.

'Nothing has come to light to explain that run - you certainly couldn`t say it was anything to do with the ground,' said Abdullah`s racing managerTeddy Beckett.

'He is in good form now and has won on good to soft but if there was a great deal more rain there would be a doubt about him running.

'There are no alternatives if he does miss the Dewhurst but that`s not so bad. He will get plenty of opportunities next year.'

Endless Summer has thrived on fast ground and ran well last time when second to Minardi in the Middle Park Stakes over six furlongs of the Newmarket course.

Trainer John Gosden was planning to check the rain-sodden track this afternoon.

But Beckett said: 'He really doesn`t want it soft and a decision on his participation will be taken overnight.'
